June 20 is World Refugee Day, a special day when we think about people who have had to leave their homes. MIYAVI is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). That means he travels to refugee camps and tries to make life better for people there. ❤️
In a recent chat, MIYAVI said that helping others gives him energy. “It’s like fuel for me,” he said. He believes that music has the power to bring joy and hope, even in tough times. 🎶
But did you know that helping refugees isn’t always easy? MIYAVI talked about how organizations like the UN are facing challenges because they’re running out of money. “When the economy goes down, we all suffer,” he explained. That’s why he wants everyone to support and donate if they can. 🙏
MIYAVI became a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in 2017. He’s the first person from Japan to have this important role! 🇯🇵 He shared stories about visiting refugee camps for the first time, and how he loves making kids smile with his music. “Seeing their faces light up makes me so happy,” he said. 😊
