Did you hear the news? More than 740 Chinese people are making their way back home from Iran! π
These friends traveled through a place called the Astara border checkpoint, which is the crossing point from Iran into Azerbaijan. By midday on Friday, they had safely arrived in Azerbaijan.
The Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan, which helps Chinese people in that country, announced on Tuesday that they started helping Chinese nationals (that’s what we call people who are citizens of China) who are coming from Iran or passing through Azerbaijan to go back home.
With the help of an association of overseas Chinese living in Azerbaijan (that’s a group of Chinese people who live abroad), they’ve been riding buses to hotels in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan. Some are even booking flights right away to get back to China! πβοΈ
The Embassy says that more Chinese citizens are still arriving at the Astara border crossing from Iran. There’s a team on-site (that means they are actually there!) to give them all the help they need.
It’s great to see everyone working together to help people get home safely! π
