Hello friends,
We have some sad news to share today. An Air India plane carrying 242 people crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad, a city in western India. The plane was heading to London, but something went wrong just minutes after it left the ground.
The flight departed at 1:38 a.m. local time. On board were 230 passengers and 12 crew members. The ‘crew’ includes the pilots and flight attendants who work on the plane. The aircraft was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, a type of plane used for long flights.
The passengers were from different countries: 169 were from India, 53 from the United Kingdom, one from Canada, and seven from Portugal.
India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Mr. Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, said he was very shocked by the accident. He is making sure that rescue teams are helping at the crash site. He said, ‘My thoughts and prayers are with all those on board and their families.’
This is a very sad event, and our hearts go out to everyone affected by this accident. As we learn more, we will keep you updated.
