Ukraine Faces Record Drone Attack from Russia Overnight
Hey everyone! Did you hear the news? Last night, Ukraine faced the biggest drone attack since the start of the war three years ago! 😮
According to Ukraine’s air force, Russia launched 479 drones at Ukraine overnight. That’s a lot of drones! Imagine almost 500 tiny flying machines attacking at once. 😲
But that’s not all. Russia also fired 20 missiles at different parts of Ukraine, especially in central and western areas.
But here’s some good news: Ukraine’s air defense forces were on the job! 💪 They said they destroyed 277 drones and 19 missiles in the air before they could hit their targets. It’s like a big game of defending your castle, and they did a great job protecting their people. 🛡️
Even so, some drones and missiles did get through, and air raid alarms kept people awake for five hours until around 5 a.m. Imagine having to stay alert all night! 😴
Recently, the fighting has been getting more intense. Russia increased its attacks after Ukraine struck some of Russia’s bombers at airbases inside Russia on June 1. There’s also been talks between Russia and Ukraine for the first time in over three years, but so far they’ve only agreed on exchanging war prisoners.
In the eastern parts of Ukraine, Russia says it’s taking more ground. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that things are “very difficult” in some areas. He didn’t give more details, but we can guess that people there are having a tough time. 😔
Meanwhile, Ukraine is also sending drones into Russia. Russia’s defense ministry said they destroyed 102 Ukrainian drones overnight. Some of these drones were flying over areas close to Ukraine, like the Bryansk region, and even near big cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Because of this, Russia had to stop flights at major airports in Moscow and St. Petersburg for safety. Flights started again in Moscow by Tuesday morning, but there were still restrictions in St. Petersburg.
It’s a difficult time for both countries, and we hope that peace can come soon. Let’s keep the people affected by this conflict in our thoughts. ❤️
