Well, recently, the UN’s Security Council wanted all the fighting in Gaza to stop right away. They made a plan asking for an immediate ceasefire (that’s a fancy word for stopping fighting) and for food, water, and other help to get to the people who need it. 🕊️
Almost every country on the council, 14 out of 15, said “Yes!” to this plan. But one country, the United States, said “No” and used something called a veto to stop it. A veto is like a special power to block a decision.
Why did the US say no? They didn’t agree with some parts of the plan. But many other countries were disappointed. Fu Cong, who represents China at the UN, said that this was sad news for the people in Gaza who need help. 😞
Other countries like Britain, Algeria, and Pakistan also wished the plan had passed. They think it’s important to help people and bring peace.
