Explosion at Iran’s Biggest Port: 28 People Dead and Over 1,000 Injured

Hey everyone, we have some sad news to share 😔. On Saturday, there was a big explosion at Iran’s largest commercial port called Shahid Rajaee Port. This port is really important because it’s where lots of ships bring in and take out goods for the country.

The explosion was so strong that it caused a lot of damage. Sadly, as of now, 28 people have lost their lives 💔, and more than 1,000 people were hurt. Some of the injured people were so badly hurt that they had to be taken to the capital city, Tehran, for special medical treatment.

Pirhossein Koolivand, the chief of the Red Crescent—which is an organization that helps people in emergencies (kind of like the Red Cross)—shared this information on Sunday.

There were worries that maybe the explosion happened because of military supplies or fuel being stored at the port. But on Sunday, Iran’s Defense Ministry said that wasn’t the case. Their spokesperson, Reza Talaei-Nik, told everyone that there was no military cargo involved. He said, “There has been no imported or exported cargo for military fuel or military use in the area of the fire incident and Shahid Rajaee Port.”

Investigations are still going on to find out exactly what caused the explosion. Our thoughts are with all the people affected by this tragedy 🙏.
