There has been a lot of fighting in a place called Gaza. A group called Hamas and the country of Israel have been in conflict. Recently, Hamas said they are ready to let go of some people they have taken, called hostages, if the fighting stops. This could be a big step towards peace! 🕊️
Talks have been happening in Cairo, which is the capital of Egypt. People hoped these talks would help end the fighting, but so far, there hasn’t been much progress. Israel offered to stop fighting for 45 days if Hamas released ten hostages, but Hamas said no.
Khalil Al Hayya, a leader in Hamas, said they want to have bigger talks to agree on more things. He said they won’t make small deals anymore. Instead, they want to discuss stopping the fighting, releasing prisoners, and rebuilding Gaza. 🏗️
There are still 24 Israeli hostages who are believed to be alive in Gaza. They include five people who are both Israeli and American citizens, one person from Thailand, and one from Nepal.
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said they won’t stop their military actions until Hamas gives up their weapons and power. But Hamas said they can’t agree to that right now.
In the meantime, there have been more airstrikes in Gaza, and people are getting hurt. It’s a very difficult time for everyone there. 😔
There’s also news about other places. In southern Lebanon, a car was hit by a drone. And in Yemen, there were attacks on a fuel port, with many people hurt. The U.S. said they were responding to attacks on ships in the Red Sea.
The British consulate in Jerusalem is worried about violence happening in the West Bank, too. They mentioned that some homes and buildings have been damaged.
