Myanmar holds minute of silence for more than 2,700 quake dead

Myanmar Honors Earthquake Victims with Minute of Silence

Hey everyone,

Today, something very important happened in Myanmar 🇲🇲. The people there took a moment to remember over 2,700 people who sadly lost their lives in a big earthquake.

At exactly 12:51:02 PM local time, which is the exact time the earthquake happened, sirens rang all across the country. Can you imagine that? People everywhere stopped what they were doing for one minute to think about those who were lost and to honor them.

The earthquake was really powerful—it was a magnitude 7.9! That’s one of the strongest kinds of earthquakes. It happened near a place called Mandalay. Because of the earthquake, lots of people are hurt, and some are still missing. The leader of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, said that more than 2,700 people have passed away, over 4,500 are injured, and 441 are still missing. The sad thing is that the number might go even higher.

The country has announced a week-long period of mourning. This means that everyone is taking time to remember and honor those who have been affected by this disaster.

Maybe you can take a moment, too, to think about the people in Myanmar and send them good thoughts. 🌟

Disasters like earthquakes can be really scary, but they also show how people can come together to help each other. Let’s hope for better days ahead for everyone in Myanmar.

Stay safe and be kind!
