Tragic Road Accident in Mexico Claims 12 Lives, Injures 4 Others

On Sunday, a terrible accident happened in northern Mexico. A pickup truck carrying 16 people fell into a deep ravine—a steep, narrow valley—in a mountainous area called Santiago, in the state of Nuevo León.

Sadly, 12 people lost their lives in the accident, including a child who passed away later in the hospital. Four other people were injured and are still in the hospital receiving care.

The truck fell about 120 meters (that’s nearly 400 feet!) into the ravine. The accident also caused a forest fire, but firefighters were able to put it out.

Erik Cavazos, who works with Civil Protection (like emergency services), shared this information with everyone.

This tragic event reminds us how important it is to stay safe when traveling, especially in areas with mountains and steep roads. Our hearts go out to the families and friends affected by this tragedy.
