Hey everyone! There’s some important news from the Middle East. A planned pause in fighting, called a ceasefire, between Israel and Gaza didn’t happen as expected on Sunday morning.
What’s going on?
Israel and a group in Gaza called Hamas were supposed to stop fighting at 8:30 a.m. But there were some delays, and both sides couldn’t agree on all the details in time.
Because of this, there were new clashes. Israeli planes and tanks attacked areas in Gaza, and unfortunately, some people were hurt. Medics say that at least eight people lost their lives, and many others were wounded.
Why the delay?
Before the ceasefire could start, Israel asked Hamas to share the names of three people they were going to release. These people are called hostages, which means they were being held against their will. Hamas said they had some technical problems and couldn’t provide the names right away.
What’s next?
Both sides say they still want the ceasefire to happen. They’re working hard to sort out the issues. If they agree, it could help bring an end to weeks of fighting that started in early October.
Let’s hope for peace! โจ
This is a complicated situation, and many people are hoping for the fighting to stop so everyone can be safe. Stay tuned for more updates, and remember, even when things seem tough, there’s always hope for a better tomorrow.
