Get Ready for a Lava Show! 🌋
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see a volcano erupt? In the U.S. state of Hawaii, the famous Kilauea volcano did just that! It shot lava fountains as high as 80 meters (that’s like stacking 20 school buses on top of each other!) into the sky. 🚀🔥
Early on Monday, people noticed the volcano waking up on Hawaii’s Big Island. But don’t worry, the eruption was inside a closed area of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, so no one was hurt. Scientists from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) were keeping a close eye on it.
What’s super cool is that the volcano threw out “lava bombs”! 💣 But these aren’t the kind you’d see in movies. Lava bombs are big pieces of lava, wider than 6 centimeters, that get thrown out during an eruption. Imagine fiery rocks flying through the air! 😲
Not only that, but the volcano also sent out a huge plume of gas and tiny volcanic particles. This plume reached up to 2,440 meters high—that’s taller than 6 Eiffel Towers stacked up! 🗼 The gas included something called sulfur dioxide, which can be bad to breathe. So, the scientists said this was their main concern.
This eruption shows us how amazing and powerful nature can be. 🌎 Remember, volcanoes might look cool, but they can be dangerous. Always listen to experts and stay safe!
