Earlier this week, a powerful earthquake shook the Pacific Island nation of Vanuatu. The quake was a magnitude 7.3, which is really strong! Buildings in the capital city, Port Vila, were damaged, and landslides occurred.
Sadly, at least 14 people lost their lives, and over 200 were injured. The people of Vanuatu are working hard to recover and rebuild their homes.
To help out, the Red Cross Society of China has donated $100,000 in emergency aid to Vanuatu. This money will be used to support rescue efforts and help those affected by the earthquake.
The Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, Mr. Li Minggang, said that China will continue to assist Vanuatu based on what they need. The Chinese embassy is staying in close touch with Vanuatu’s government to provide timely support.
It’s wonderful to see countries and organizations around the world coming together to help when disasters happen. Every bit of help makes a big difference!
