Hey there! Have you heard about the Duanwu Festival? It’s also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, and it’s a super exciting celebration in China! π¨π³
In Daoxian County, Hunan Province, people have been racing dragon boats for thousands of years! That’s a really long time, even older than your grandparents’ grandparents! π²
This year, to welcome the Duanwu Festival, they held a fantastic dragon boat parade. Each boat is special and has its own name. The front of the boats are decorated with colorful sculptures of different animals like dragons π, tigers π―, phoenixes π¦, eagles π¦ , and even cats π±! How cool is that?
Did you know? In 2021, the dragon boat races of Daoxian County were added to China’s list of national intangible cultural heritage. That means it’s a very important tradition that people want to protect and celebrate! π
