Have you ever seen a bird that looks like it was dipped in bright red paint? Say hello to the scarlet ibis, one of the most colorful birds on the planet! 🌈
With its fiery orange-red feathers and a long, curved beak, the scarlet ibis is hard to miss. Originally from the wetlands of South America, these amazing birds have found a new home at the Chimelong Birds Park in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
A Splash of Color
Why are scarlet ibises so red? Well, it’s all in their diet! They love to eat shrimp and other small creatures that have a special pigment called carotene (the same stuff that makes carrots orange!). This pigment turns their feathers that stunning shade of red. Isn’t that cool? 🦐🥕
Visit Them Up Close!
At Chimelong Birds Park, you can see nearly a hundred of these “aquatic elves” as they fly, play, and search for food in the water and marshes. You might even spot them building nests or preening their beautiful feathers.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about these incredible birds and appreciate the wonders of nature. So, if you’re ever in Guangzhou, make sure to stop by and say hi to the scarlet ibis! 🐦👋
