Hey everyone, we have some really sad news to share. Over the July 4th weekend, heavy rains caused terrible floods in Texas, USA. More than 100 people have lost their lives, and many are still missing. Among those who died were 28 children. π
One place that was hit hard is called Camp Mystic, a summer camp for girls that’s been around for over 100 years. They lost 27 campers and counselors to the floodwaters. Rescuers are still searching for others who might be missing.
The floods came quickly and were more powerful than anyone expected. Even though weather warnings were given, some people didn’t get them in time. One problem is that some areas have poor cellphone service, so warnings didn’t reach everyone.
Authorities are planning to investigate why the warnings didn’t reach some people and why some places didn’t evacuate. They want to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.
U.S. President Donald Trump signed a major disaster declaration for the affected areas. He plans to visit Texas soon to see the situation himself.
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy. Let’s all keep them in our thoughts and hope that the rescuers can find those who are still missing. β€οΈ
