In the north and west parts of China, it’s been raining cats and dogs! Places like Guizhou Province in southwest China have had so much rain that rivers are flooding and hillsides are turning muddy. This heavy rain can sometimes cause landslides and floods, so everyone there is being extra careful.
And guess what? The rain is moving! It’s spreading to other areas like the North China Plain and even the northeast. Meteorologists (that’s a big word for weather scientists 🌤️) say that from Tuesday, the rain will get even stronger and reach more places.
Sunshine Turned Up to the Max!
Meanwhile, in the south and east, the sun is shining super brightly! Cities like Shanghai, Nanjing, and Wuhan are feeling the heat. Imagine going to bed and it’s still 30 degrees Celsius outside! 🥵 That’s hotter than a summer day at the beach!
Some cities are in for a whole week of temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius. Hangzhou might even reach a sizzling 41 degrees Celsius on July 5th. That’s record-breaking heat! 🔥
Why Is This Happening?
This crazy weather is because of something called a subtropical high-pressure system. Think of it like a big invisible blanket that traps heat in some places while pushing rain clouds to others.
