Tech Stars Shine at Vancouver’s Web Summit 🌟

Hey there, tech fans! 📱💻 This week, the Web Summit took place in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. It’s a big event where some of the smartest people in technology come together to share cool ideas and inventions!

One of the awesome speakers was Yaofei Feng. He was born in China and co-founded a company called Fantuan. Have you ever ordered food online? 🍔🍕 Well, Fantuan is a super popular food delivery app, especially for Asian food lovers in North America! It started in 2014 right in Vancouver, and now it’s the biggest Asian food delivery platform around here. Isn’t that amazing?

Yaofei used to work as a software engineer at Amazon in Seattle. That’s a big company you might have heard of! He noticed that there weren’t many options for ordering Asian food online. So, he had a great idea to start Fantuan. It just shows how an idea can turn into something huge! 🚀

Another cool person at the summit was Shivam Kishore. He’s an advisor for the United Nations Environmental Program. That’s a group that helps look after our planet! 🌍 Shivam believes that even though there have been some tough times for the environment lately, we’re still making progress. He thinks technology can help make the world a better place. How inspiring is that? 🌱

Finally, we heard from William Lazonick, a professor of economics. That means he knows a lot about how money and trade work in the world. He shared his thoughts on technology, trade, and tariffs (which are like taxes on things traded between countries). It’s important stuff that affects everyone!

It was so cool to see all these smart people sharing their ideas. Maybe one day, you’ll have a big idea to share at a summit like this! What kind of invention would you create? 🤖💡
