Hey friends! 🌟 Did you hear the big news from China? They’ve just built some huge grain silos that can store tons and tons of food! 🍚
On Monday, in the city of Changsha, which is the capital of Hunan Province in the Chinese mainland, five gigantic grain storage buildings were pumped up and ready to go. These aren’t just any silos—they’re special pneumatic silos that can hold up to 9,000 tonnes of grain each! That’s enough food to feed 23 million people for an entire day! 😲
So, what’s so cool about these new silos? Well, they’re super strong against bad weather like rain and cold. They’re six times more airtight than regular silos, which means less air gets in and keeps the grain fresh! They’re also three times better at keeping the temperature just right inside. 🌡️
According to Wang Yue, who helped design these silos, they have special layers inside. There’s a concrete layer to make them strong, and an insulation layer to keep the temperature steady. Plus, there are sensors inside that can check the grain’s temperature all the time! 🤖
The silos are almost air-tight, which helps stop pests from getting in. This way, the grain stays clean and good to eat. And guess what? They cost less to run and fix than regular silos—about 30% less! 💰
Building these silos was also faster and easier. Jin Feng, who led the project, said that instead of needing over 100 workers, they only needed 18 people! And they finished the work much quicker than before. 🛠️
These five big silos will be all set by the end of this year and will start working in February next year. Isn’t it amazing how technology can help us store food better and feed more people? 🌾
