Have you ever wondered what it’s like to walk in space? 🚀
On Tuesday night, astronauts from the Shenzhou-19 mission made history! They completed China’s longest-ever spacewalk, spending an amazing nine hours outside their space station. That’s like going to school and coming back home, all while floating in space!
Cai Xuzhe and Song Lingdong were the brave astronauts who ventured outside. Guess what? Song Lingdong is the first Chinese astronaut born in the 1990s to do a spacewalk! How cool is that?
While Cai and Song were busy outside, their teammate Wang Haoze supported them from inside the station. Together, they installed special devices to protect the station from space debris (that’s bits of old satellites and other objects floating around in space). They also got help from a super handy robotic arm and teams back on Earth. 🤖🌍
After finishing their important work, the astronauts shared their excitement and thanked everyone who helped. Cai said, “We feel greater and greater confidence in conducting spacewalks. China’s space station will always remain something to look forward to!”
This was Cai’s second spacewalk—he first walked in space during the Shenzhou-14 mission two years ago. The Shenzhou-19 crew will continue doing cool experiments and even more spacewalks during their mission. Who knows what they’ll discover next?
Space is awesome, and so are these astronauts! Maybe someday, you’ll be the one exploring the stars. 🌟
