Astro Bot Wins Game of the Year, Surprising Gamers Worldwide!
Hey gamers! 🎮 Guess what? Astro Bot, the PlayStation 5 game about a cool robot’s space adventure, just won Game of the Year at The Game Awards! 🏆 That’s the biggest prize in gaming!
Astro Bot was created by Sony’s Team ASOBI and released on September 6, 2024. Can you believe it was made by a small team of about 65 people over three and a half years? That’s like your whole class teaming up to make an awesome game!
Many people were surprised by Astro Bot’s win. Some thought other games like Black Myth: Wukong would win. Black Myth: Wukong is the first Chinese game ever nominated for Game of the Year! It sold over 22 million copies and made more than $1 billion! 💰 That’s huge!
Even though Black Myth: Wukong didn’t win the top prize, it still took home two awards: Best Action Game and the Players’ Voice Award. That’s pretty awesome! 🥳
During the ceremony, game developer Swen Vincke said, “A studio makes a game because they want to make a game they want to play themselves… They didn’t make it to increase market share.” Then he announced Astro Bot as the winner!
