Wu Yibing faced off against the experienced Gaël Monfils from France in the first round. It was an exciting match! Both players held their serves in the first two games. But then, in the sixth game, Monfils made two double faults in a row (that’s when a player misses two serves back-to-back 😯). Wu seized the opportunity and broke Monfils’s serve, taking a 4-2 lead!
Monfils struggled with more mistakes, and Wu took the first set 6-3! In the second set, after tying 1-1, Wu powered through and won five games in a row, clinching the match 6-3, 6-1! Bu Yunchaokete’s Impressive Debut 🚀
In his first match at the tournament, Bu Yunchaokete faced David Goffin from Belgium. Bu started strong by winning four points in a row in the third game, breaking Goffin’s serve and taking a 2-1 lead. He then won the first set 6-4 after a perfect service game (that’s called a “love game,” meaning the opponent didn’t score any points! 🥳)
The second set was a bit tougher. Both players broke each other’s serves in the fifth and sixth games, making it very exciting! But Bu didn’t give up.
