Hey there, swimming fans! ๐โโ๏ธ Have you heard about the amazing performance by China’s artistic swimming team at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore? ๐ธ๐ฌ
On Tuesday, the team dazzled the audience with a spectacular routine inspired by Wukong, the legendary Monkey King ๐๐ from Chinese mythology. They wore golden headbands, just like Wukong, and brought the myth to life in the water! Their performance was also based on the popular video game “Black Myth: Wukong” ๐ฎ.
China scored an impressive 307.8001 points, taking the gold medal! ๐ฅ They narrowly beat their longtime rivals, Russia, who competed under the name Neutral Athletes B (NAB) and scored 300.6183 points. Spain took the bronze with 294.8575 points. ๐ช๐ธ
“This is a very special day,” said head coach Zhang Xiaohuan. “We’ve waited a long time to compete against our biggest rivals on a stage like this.” ๐
Team captain Feng Yu added, “It’s only when you face tough competition that you learn and improve.” ๐ช
Earlier in the day, China’s Xu Huiyan made history by winning China’s first-ever women’s solo technical gold medal at the World Championships! ๐ The 19-year-old now holds 19 gold medals across various championships. Wow! ๐
The team’s success with the Wukong routine began in June at the Artistic Swimming World Cup Super Final in Xi’an, China. They’ve been working hard to improve and added more difficulty for the World Championships. ๐ฅณ
This gold marks China’s third in artistic swimming at the World Championships. Way to go, Team China! ๐จ๐ณ
