Guess who’s back on the tennis court? 🎾 It’s Venus Williams! The 43-year-old tennis superstar is returning to play, and she’s super excited. But you know what would make her even happier? If her sister Serena Williams joined her!
Venus shared her hopes during a fun interview at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. She said, “The only thing that would make this better is if Serena was here. We always did everything together, so of course I miss her.”
Serena, who is 41, hasn’t played since the 2022 U.S. Open, where she hinted at stepping away from tennis. But recently, there was a video of her swinging a racquet, which has fans wondering if she might come back.
“She can take months off and still hit the ball perfectly,” Venus said with a big smile. “You can’t teach that kind of talent. She’s just so good.”
Both sisters are tennis legends. They’ve both been ranked number one in the world and have won lots of Grand Slam titles. Venus has won seven Grand Slam singles titles, and together, they’ve won many doubles championships too.
Venus is thrilled to be playing again. “This is very special for me,” she said. “I think it’s a surprise for the fans—and a surprise in general, as I hold my cards tight.”
Mark Ein, the chairman of the Citi Open, was excited to have her back. “She’s such an icon of the sport—both on and off the court,” he said.
Who knows? Maybe we’ll see the Williams sisters playing together again soon! Wouldn’t that be awesome? 😃
