Hey there, cycling fans! Have you heard about the amazing race at the Tour de France? On Thursday, Tadej Pogacar, a super speedy cyclist from Slovenia, won the 12th stage of the race, which took place in the big mountains called the Pyrenees! 🏔️
Imagine biking uphill for 13.5 kilometers (that’s over 8 miles!) in hot, hot weather. Sounds tough, right? Well, Pogacar didn’t let that stop him. He pedaled so fast up the mountain called Hautacam that his main rival, Jonas Vingegaard from Denmark, couldn’t keep up! Pogacar finished a whopping 2 minutes and 10 seconds ahead of Vingegaard. 😮
Now, Pogacar is leading the overall race by 3 minutes and 31 seconds. That’s like getting a big head start! This win was extra special because three years ago, Vingegaard beat Pogacar on the same mountain. So, it was a sweet revenge for Pogacar! 🍭
Another cool cyclist, Florian Lipowitz from Germany, came in third place, finishing 13 seconds after Vingegaard. All the riders had to bike for 180.6 kilometers (that’s over 112 miles!) during this stage. Can you believe they do this every day? 🚴♂️💨
