China Loses to Japan in East Asian Cup ⚽
On Saturday, China’s soccer team faced off against Japan in the East Asian Cup held in Yongin, South Korea. Japan won the game 2-0.
Japan scored their first goal early in the 11th minute. Mao Hosoya received a pass from Satoshi Tanaka and quickly turned to score. Just six minutes later, China’s Zhang Yuning had a chance to tie the game but his shot was saved. Wei Shihao tried to score from the rebound but missed.
In the 63rd minute, Henry Heroki Mochizuki scored Japan’s second goal with a powerful long-range shot.
This was China’s second loss in the tournament. Earlier, they lost 3-0 to South Korea.
After the match, Zhang Yuning said, “We felt better physically today and defended more aggressively. These matches are great experience for our young players.”
China’s caretaker coach, Dejan Djurdjevic, said, “This tournament is a new beginning for us. We have many new players. While we’re not satisfied with the losses, we’ve seen good signs.”
Even though they didn’t win, China’s team is hopeful. Their young players are learning and gaining valuable experience on the big stage!
