In a surprising twist at the WTT US Smash tournament in Las Vegas, two of China’s top table tennis stars, Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu, were knocked out of the competition!
Sun Yingsha, the number one seed and a two-time Olympic silver medalist, faced off against her teammate Chen Yi in the round of 16. Although Sun tried her best, Chen played brilliantly and won the match 3-1. It was an intense battle, with both players showing amazing skills!
In another surprising match, Wang Manyu, the second seed, was defeated by Zhu Yuling from the Macao region. Zhu played confidently and managed to win the match 3-1. She was very happy with her performance, saying, “I didn’t expect I could get such a good result today.”
But it’s not all over for China! In the doubles quarterfinals, Chinese pairs are still shining. Wang Yidi and Kuai Man won their match against Japan’s Hina Hayata and Mima Ito in a thrilling five-game battle! On the men’s side, Wang Chuqin and Liang Jingkun beat their teammates Lin Shidong and Huang Youzheng to advance to the semifinals.
