Zhang Shuai from the Chinese mainland and Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador have reached the mixed doubles semifinals!
In mixed doubles, a team is made up of one female and one male player. Together, Zhang and Marcelo played an amazing match against Giuliana Olmos from Mexico and Lloyd Glasspool from Britain. They won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2! That means they won two sets in a row without losing one.
Marcelo Arevalo is currently the World No.1 in men’s doubles. He showed off his powerful serves and great skills from the baseline (that’s the back of the court). Zhang Shuai was awesome too, defending at the net like a pro! They worked together as a team and even won a crucial break point to get ahead.
