Exciting Times at the 2025 Taklimakan Rally! 🚗🏜️
The Taklimakan Rally is one of the toughest races in the world, and this year it’s more thrilling than ever! Teams from all over are gathering in Makit County, Kashgar Prefecture, in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Before the final stages, the teams took a rest day to prepare for the ultimate challenge: racing through huge sand dunes! Let’s meet some of the cool people behind the scenes who make this rally so amazing.
Meet Martin Koloc and His Family Racing Team 🏁👨👧👧
Martin Koloc is a two-time European truck-racing champion from the Czech Republic. He owns the Buggyra Racing Team, and guess what? His daughter, Aliyyah Koloc, is making her rally debut!
“I handle all the technical stuff and test the car for Aliyyah,” Martin said. “Her twin sister is her performance engineer, so we’re like a big racing family! I know how Aliyyah drives, so I can help make the car just right for her.”
Aliyyah is learning fast, and they’re working hard together. Isn’t it cool how a family can team up in such an exciting race?
Connor Jones and the Super Fast Car Engineers 🔧🚗
Connor Jones is an engineer for the Shaanxi Yunxiang Club. His job is to make sure the car is always at its best. “I check all the data after each stage to keep the car performing great,” Connor said.
He works with driver Liu Yangui, who he says is an amazing driver. “Liu pushes the car to its limits, and that’s exactly what we want!” Connor added. It’s like having a super-fast video game car, but in real life!
Ian Davies: Learning from Experience 📊🏎️
Ian Davies is the engineering director of the Wuhai Speedrush Club, and this is his second time at the Taklimakan Rally. “Since I’ve been here before, I can use last year’s data to make our strategy even better,” he explained.
By comparing information from 2024 and 2025, Ian can help his team go faster and be smarter on the course. “Having multiple cars and drivers lets us find the perfect setup,” he said. It’s like solving a big puzzle to win the race!
The Final Stretch: Through the Giant Sand Dunes! 🏜️⏱️
As the rally heads into the last stages, drivers and their teams are ready to face massive sand dunes. It’s a true test of endurance, which means they have to keep going even when it’s really hard.
Behind the scenes, everyone is working super hard to make sure both the drivers and the cars are ready for anything. Who will come out on top? We’ll have to wait and see!
