Wang Chuqin Shines at Table Tennis Championships ๐
Hey there, table tennis fans! Have you heard about Wang Chuqin? He’s one of China’s top table tennis players, and he’s been amazing at the World Table Tennis Championships in Doha, Qatar!
In the first round, Wang played against 18-year-old Nandan Naresh from the USA. Wang was super focused and won the match easily with scores of 11-6, 11-4, 11-2, and 11-4. That’s impressive! ๐ฎ
Did you know? Wang even used a video review to challenge a call about his serve, and he was right! He said, “I have confidence in my serves.”
Wang is hoping to win his first world title in men’s singles this year. Let’s cheer him on! ๐
Liang Jingkun, another Chinese star, also advanced to the second round after defeating Ham Yu Song from the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) in five games. Way to go, Liang! ๐
But not all news was happy. Xue Fei, the only Chinese player using a penhold grip (a special way of holding the paddle), lost a tough match against Hiroto Shinozuka from Japan.
In the women’s matches, Sun Yingsha, who is ranked number one in the world, won her match against Veronika Matiunina from Ukraine. Sun is the defending world champion and she’s aiming for the top again! ๐
She said about her next match, “My second round opponent might be very strong. I will be preparing for a tough match.”
Chen Xingtong, another talented Chinese player, also made it to the next round after winning her match.
In doubles, there were great wins too! Liang Jingkun and Huang Youzheng won in men’s doubles, and Lin Gaoyuan and Lin Shidong also won their match. Lin Gaoyuan paired up with Kuai Man in mixed doubles, and they advanced to the second round after defeating Liam Pitchford of England and Anna Hursey of Wales.
