Alonso confirms impending exit from Bayer Leverkusen at end of season

Xabi Alonso Says Goodbye to Bayer Leverkusen at Season’s End

Hey, football fans! ⚽️ Guess what? Coach Xabi Alonso has announced that he’ll be leaving Bayer Leverkusen at the end of this season!

Alonso, who used to be a superstar player for teams like Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, has been an amazing coach for Leverkusen since 2022. He helped the team win their very first Bundesliga title 🏆 and the German Cup in the 2023-24 season! Isn’t that awesome?

He said it’s the right time to move on, but he didn’t tell us where he’s going next. 🤔 There are lots of rumors that he might go back to Real Madrid, one of his old teams! How cool would that be?

“We have to enjoy this moment, with mixed emotions,” Alonso told his players and staff. “I have become what I am right now thanks to them.”

Alonso will coach his last home game for Leverkusen on Sunday against Borussia Dortmund, and his final match will be next Saturday against Mainz. Let’s wish him the best of luck! 🙌

Even though Leverkusen won’t win the title this year—they drew 2-2 with Freiburg, which means Bayern Munich are the champions—they still had a great season and will finish second. 🥈

What do you think about Alonso leaving? Are you excited to see where he goes next? Let us know! 😊
