Bayern Munich have done it again! They have won the German football championship, called the Bundesliga, for the 34th time! 🎉⚽
This victory is extra special because it’s the first big trophy for their new star striker, Harry Kane. Harry used to play for a team in England called Tottenham Hotspur, but he never won a major trophy there. Now, with Bayern Munich, he’s a champion! 🏆
How did this happen? Well, on Saturday, Bayern Munich played an exciting game against RB Leipzig. The match ended in a 3-3 draw, which means both teams scored three goals each. Bayern was losing by two goals but made an amazing comeback to take the lead. However, Leipzig scored in extra time to tie the game.
This result meant that the team in second place, Bayer Leverkusen, needed to win their match against Freiburg on Sunday to keep their chances of winning the championship alive.
In the Leverkusen vs. Freiburg game, Freiburg scored first with a fantastic goal by Maximilian Eggestein. Then, Leverkusen accidentally scored an own goal, which means they accidentally put the ball into their own net! 😱 So, they were losing 2-0.
But Leverkusen didn’t give up! In the last 10 minutes, Florian Wirtz scored an amazing goal, dribbling past players before shooting the ball into the net off the post. Then, Jonathan Tah headed in another goal during extra time to make it 2-2.
However, they couldn’t score a third goal, and the match ended in a draw. This result meant that Bayern Munich were officially the champions! 🥳
Harry Kane and some of his teammates watched the Leverkusen game together in Munich. Even though he couldn’t play in Bayern’s last match because he was suspended (which means he wasn’t allowed to play), he’ll be back for their next home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday. That’s when Bayern Munich will receive the Bundesliga trophy! 🏅
