Hey, friends! Guess what? Tigst Assefa, a super-fast runner from Ethiopia, just made history at the Berlin Marathon! π
She ran the marathon, which is a really long race of 42.195 kilometers (about 26.2 miles), in an amazing time of 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 53 seconds! That’s the fastest any woman has ever run a marathon. π
Tigst didn’t just beat the old record; she smashed it by over two minutes! The previous record was 2:14:04, held by Brigid Kosgei from Kenya. Now, Tigst holds the new world record! π₯
She said after the race, “I’m so happy to break the world record! I’ve trained really hard for this moment.” π
The Berlin Marathon is known for fast times and world records. It’s so inspiring to see athletes pushing themselves to achieve new goals. Maybe one day, you’ll set a world record too! Keep believing in yourself! π«
