Guess what just happened in Beijing? 🤖🏃
On Saturday, the world’s first-ever humanoid robot half marathon took place in Beijing! And the winner was "Tiangong Ultra," a super cool robot that completed the 21.0975-kilometer race in just 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds! 🎉
A total of 20 teams joined the race, including national-level teams, private companies, and university research groups. The robots were all different sizes and designs. For example, "Tiangong Ultra" is a tall robot at 180 centimeters (that’s almost 6 feet!), while "Little Giant" is only 75 centimeters tall (about 2.5 feet). Isn’t that amazing?
The robots didn’t run alone—they were accompanied by their human trainers. Some trainers even helped support their robots during the race. Teams were allowed to change batteries and even swap robots, kind of like a relay race!
Xiong Youjun, the team leader for "Tiangong Ultra," said, "During the competition, we faced all sorts of challenging conditions—sharp turns, speed bumps, and potholes. So it’s entirely normal for robots to experience technical glitches. Today, despite minor hiccups along the route, our robot ultimately performed admirably."
This race was a huge achievement for robots everywhere! It’s the first time in human history that humanoid robots have attempted a half-marathon. How cool is that? Maybe one day, robots and humans will run marathons together all over the world! 🌏
Would you like to race against a robot? Or maybe have one on your team? The future is full of possibilities! 🚀
