Netherlands Sets New World Record in Mixed Team Relay! 🏆
Hey everyone! Guess what happened at the ISU World Short Track Championships in Beijing? The Netherlands broke a world record! 🌟
The Dutch team zoomed around the ice, finishing the 2,000-meter mixed team relay in just 2 minutes and 35.339 seconds. That’s super fast! 🚀 They set a new world record during the quarterfinals on Friday.
The previous record was 2:35.427, set by Team Canada in the same place, the Capital Indoor Stadium, last December. But the Netherlands beat it by a tiny bit! 🕑
The amazing Dutch skaters were Xandra Velzeboer, Michelle Velzeboer, Jens van’t Wout, and Teun Boer. They skated their hearts out and amazed everyone watching. ❤️⛸️
Meanwhile, Team China had some tough luck. Sun Long, one of their skaters, fell during the race, and they didn’t make it to the semifinals. 😢 But Sun Long didn’t give up! He was the only Chinese skater to reach the men’s 500-meter quarterfinals on Friday.
Other Chinese skaters did well in events like the men’s 1,500 meters, women’s 3,000-meter relay, and men’s 5,000-meter relay. Go Team China! 🇨🇳
Chinese veteran Fan Kexin and her teammate Wang Xinran made it to the women’s 500-meter quarterfinals. After the race, Fan said, “Mistakes make athletes grow faster, and everyone has to go through the process. In any case, our whole team takes on the responsibility together.” Such inspiring words! 💪
