On Thursday, Shi Yuqi faced Chou Tien-chen from Chinese Taipei. With incredible skill, Shi won the first game 21-11. In the second game, he sped ahead to a 14-8 lead. But Chou didn’t give up and closed the gap to 20-19. The tension was high! 😮
But Shi kept his cool and secured the win with a smashing forehand, finishing the second game 21-19. Next up, he’ll play against Loh Kean Yew from Singapore.
In other matches, India’s Lakshya Sen surprised everyone by defeating last year’s champion, Jonatan Christie from Indonesia, in straight games: 21-13, 21-10. Sen’s victory took just 36 minutes! He will face China’s Li Shifeng in the next round. Li had an exciting match against Toma Junior Popov from France, winning 21-18, 17-21, 21-15.
