Chinese tennis star Zheng Qinwen has just stormed into the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells! She won an impressive match against Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
“I needed to balance controlled aggression today,” Zheng said after the match. “Kostyuk was more aggressive but she also had more unforced errors. I wasn’t playing at my best level but it was enough for me to advance.”
This is a big moment for Zheng! It’s her first time reaching the last eight at this tournament and her seventh time at a WTA 1000 event.
Next up, she’ll face World No. 2 and four-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek of Poland. It’s going to be an exciting match! ๐
In other news, Chinese veteran Zhang Shuai and her partner Hsieh Su-wei of Chinese Taipei have advanced to the women’s doubles semifinals. They won their match 7-5, 6-4. Way to go!
Stay tuned for more tennis action! ๐พ๐
