Hey friends! Have you heard about Lee Zii Jia? He’s Malaysia’s top badminton player, and he just won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics! 🥉🏸
In an exciting interview, Lee shared how special that moment was for him. But did you know there was a time when he almost gave up badminton? 😮
“Every time I stepped on the court, I felt unhappy,” Lee said. “I wasn’t enjoying badminton.” But he didn’t quit! Instead, he worked hard and kept pushing forward. 💪
This year, Lee won two titles and came in second place once, besides his Olympic bronze medal. “I think I did okay,” he smiled. “I’ve always been looking for consistency in my games.”
Even though he felt nervous after losing in the semifinals, Lee didn’t give up. “I thought about how other players tried so hard but didn’t get where I was,” he shared. “So I decided to give my all and win that match!” 🏆
Lee is grateful to his coach, Wong Tat Meng, who helped him reach the top ranks. “He left his home to become my coach when I was at a low point,” Lee said. “Thanks to him, I got my first Olympic medal in just a year and a half!”
Now, Lee is aiming even higher for next year. “I hope I can achieve better results,” he said. Let’s cheer him on together! 🎉
