Players from the Chinese mainland had some tough battles on Thursday. Wang Xiyu, Zhang Shuai, and Wang Yafan gave it their all in the women’s singles second round, but unfortunately, they didn’t make it through.
Wang Xiyu had a thrilling match against Emma Navarro from the United States. She even won the second set 6-3! 😮 It was a close game, but in the end, Navarro won 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
Earlier, Zhang Shuai played against Yulia Putintseva and fought hard but lost 6-2, 6-1. Wang Yafan also faced a tough opponent, Daria Kasatkina, and the match ended 6-2, 6-0.
