Swiatek discusses doping ban ahead of Poland's United Cup campaign

Iga Swiatek Talks About Her Suspension Ahead of United Cup

Hey everyone! Have you heard of Iga Swiatek? 🎾 She’s the World No. 2 tennis player from Poland! 🇵🇱

Recently, Iga talked about a suspension she had to serve. She tested positive for a banned substance back in August. But don’t worry, she explained that it was because of contaminated melatonin. Melatonin is something people take to help them sleep. 😴

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (that’s a big name, but they make sure tennis is fair!) accepted her explanation. They gave her a one-month suspension, which she already served.

Now, Iga is getting ready to lead Team Poland in the United Cup! 🎉 This is a big mixed team tennis event happening in Sydney, Australia. She’ll be playing against teams from the Czech Republic and Norway. Go Team Poland! 🇵🇱

Iga said, “I’m not expecting an appeal, but I don’t have control over that. The process seemed fair to me. I gave them the source quickly, so the case closed pretty fast.”

She added, “I didn’t play tournaments, and I got a small fine, but it’s over now. I think it was a fair process, and I trust the ITIA to treat every player the same way.”

We’re excited to see Iga back on the court! Best of luck to her and Team Poland at the United Cup! 🎾🌟
