Guess what happened at the King Cup Badminton Open in China? ๐ธ An 18-year-old rising star named Hu Zhean just beat a former world champion! ๐ฒ
On Friday, Hu faced off against Loh Kean Yew from Singapore, who is known for being one of the best badminton players in the world. But Hu wasn’t scared! He played amazingly well and won in straight games, 21-15, 21-15. ๐
Hu shared after the match, “I faced a very strong opponent at the start of this event, and I think we both performed well, but I was more decisive on some key points. This is my first time to compete against top players, so it was very difficult to win the match, and I am very excited.” ๐
The King Cup is a special badminton tournament held in Shenzhen, China. This year, it features only men’s singles matches, and there are eight top players competing. Besides Hu and Loh, there are other famous players like Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand and Denmark’s World No. 2 Anders Antonsen.
In another exciting match, 19-year-old Alex Lanier from France beat China’s Wang Zijun. Wang, who is also 18, won the first game 21-15, but Alex fought back to win the next two games! ๐ช He will now play against Antonsen in the semifinals.
Hu will face India’s Lakshya Sen in his next match. Let’s cheer them on! ๐
