Shi Yuqi: Men’s Singles Player of the Year
First up is Shi Yuqi, who was named the Men’s Singles Player of the Year! This is his first time winning this award. Earlier in June, he became the World No. 1, replacing Viktor Axelsen from Denmark. Amazing, right?
Shi won four big tournaments this year: the India Open, France Open, Singapore Open, and Indonesia Open. He said, “I feel good because this is recognition for my year’s worth of hard work.” Way to go, Shi! π
An Se-young: Double Winner!
Not to be outdone, South Korea’s star player An Se-young won two awards! She was named the Women’s Singles Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year on the women’s side. She’s the only one to grab two trophies this year. How cool is that?
