Trump's vast tax-cut, spending bill clears first U.S. Senate hurdle

U.S. Senate Begins Debate on President Trump’s Big Tax and Spending Plan!

📰 Big news! The United States Senate has started debating President Donald Trump’s huge plan for cutting taxes and spending money on important projects.

On Saturday, after a long day filled with discussions and delays, the Senate voted 51 to 49 to begin talking about the 940-page bill. That’s a very close vote! Two members of the President’s own party, the Republicans, voted against starting the debate.

President Trump was excited and called it a “great victory” for his “great, big, beautiful bill” on social media. 🎉

But not everyone is happy. Democrats are worried that the tax cuts will help rich people more than others and might hurt programs that help people with less money. They even asked for the entire bill to be read aloud in the Senate, which could take a long time! 🕒

Senator Chuck Schumer, a leader for the Democrats, said they’re trying to make sure everyone knows what’s in the bill.

Once the bill is read, Senators will have up to 20 hours to debate. That might sound like a long time, but there’s a lot to talk about! After that, they can suggest changes in a special session called a “vote-a-rama.” They hope to finish all this by Monday.

Did you know? Senators Thom Tillis and Rand Paul, who are Republicans, voted against starting the debate. President Trump wasn’t too happy about that and posted about them on social media. 💬

It’s an important time in U.S. politics, and we’ll have to wait and see what happens next! Stay tuned! 📺
