South Korea’s new President, Lee Jae-myung, who started his job on June 4th, has just named six new ministers and two senior secretaries to help him lead the country! 🎉
Here’s a quick look at his new team:
- Koo Yun-cheol, who used to be the vice finance minister, is now the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. He will also be the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. That means he’s in charge of all things money and the economy! 💰
- Lee Jin-sook, the former president of Chungnam National University, is the new Education Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs. She will work on education and social issues to help students and families across the country. 🎓
- Jeong Seong-ho, a five-term lawmaker from the Democratic Party, is now the Justice Minister. He will be in charge of laws and justice in South Korea. ⚖️
- Yoon Ho-jung, also a five-term lawmaker from the Democratic Party, has been named the Interior Minister. He will work on internal affairs and local governments. 🏛️
- Kim Jung-kwan, who was the president of a big company called Doosan Enerbility, is the new Industry Minister. He will focus on industries and businesses in the country. 🏭
- Jeong Eun-kyeong, who used to be the commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, is now the Minister of Health and Welfare. She will work on keeping everyone healthy and happy! 🩺
President Lee also appointed senior secretaries for civil affairs and non-governmental organizations, as well as new deputy chiefs of the National Intelligence Service.
