Hey friends! π
We have some news from Ukraine, a country in Eastern Europe. Early Saturday morning, the capital city Kyiv (pronounced “Keev”) experienced a scary event.
What happened? π€
Russian forces launched missiles and drones at Kyiv while people were sleeping. π± The attack injured at least 15 people, but thankfully, there’s no news of anyone losing their life.
Damage to the city ποΈ
Officials said it was one of the largest air attacks since the conflict started. The missiles and drones damaged many buildings like homes, a shopping mall, and even a school.
Heroes in the sky π‘οΈ
Kyiv’s air defense worked hard to protect the city. They intercepted (that’s a big word meaning they stopped) some of the missiles and drones, which helped prevent more damage.
What else is happening? π
Just a day before, another city called Odesa was also attacked, and sadly, three people lost their lives there.
Hoping for peace ποΈ
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is asking other countries to help by putting more pressure on Russia to stop these attacks.
Let’s all hope for peace soon, so everyone can feel safe again. ποΈ
