Russia and Ukraine Meet in Istanbul for Peace Talks! 🤝🌍

Hey everyone! Have you heard the big news? After three years, Russia and Ukraine have finally met face-to-face to talk about peace! 🕊️ They got together in a beautiful palace in Istanbul, Türkiye, hoping to find a way to end the conflict between them.

The meeting was really important because it’s the first time they’ve talked directly since March 2022, when the conflict started. The Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, welcomed them and said it’s super important to stop the fighting as soon as possible.

“There are two paths ahead of us,” he said. “One road will lead to peace, while the other will lead to more destruction and death.” 🛣️⚖️

The teams from both countries shared what they wanted to make peace happen. Ukraine said they want Russia to agree to a 30-day ceasefire (which means no fighting for 30 days), to return Ukrainian children they’re worried about, and to exchange all people captured during the conflict.

Russia said they also want to end the conflict and are ready to talk about a ceasefire. But they’re a bit worried that Ukraine might use the pause to get stronger and get more help from other countries.
