On Saturday, a big explosion happened at Iran’s most important port, called Bandar Abbas. The blast has sadly left at least 70 people dead and over 1,200 injured. 😔
The explosion took place in the Shahid Rajaee section of the port, which is Iran’s biggest hub for shipping containers. Firefighters have been working hard for two days to control the fire. 💪 The fire kept starting again because of wind and flammable items in the containers.
Some of these containers had dangerous chemicals that released toxic gases, making it even harder to put out the fire. Officials say that removing all the containers could take up to two weeks.
Iran’s Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni, mentioned that they found some problems with safety rules not being followed. Some people who might be responsible have been questioned.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has asked for an investigation to find out if anyone was negligent or if it was sabotage.
