Hey everyone! ๐ We’ve got some exciting news from Myanmar (that’s a country in Southeast Asia ๐ฒ๐ฒ). After a big earthquake shook the country on March 28, the trains and planes are running again! ๐โ๏ธ
The earthquake was pretty strong and caused some damage. It bent train tracks and damaged bridges along the railway that connects two big cities: Yangon and Mandalay. Imagine toy train tracks getting twistedโthat’s kind of what happened! But don’t worry, no one was hurt.
The amazing workers at Myanma Railways got straight to work! ๐ ๏ธ They fixed 60 embankments (that’s like the sides of the railway tracks) and 11 bridges. They used big machines and lots of teamwork to get everything back to normal.
To make sure it was safe, they tested the tracks with freight trains on April 3 and with passenger trains on April 4. Everything went smoothly! So, on April 5, they reopened the railway, and people could ride the trains again! Hooray! ๐
Not only that, but the Mandalay International Airport also reopened for flights within the country on April 4. By April 5, four airlines had flown 13 flights, helping nearly 1,000 passengers get where they needed to go.
Isn’t it awesome how quickly things can get back on track after a setback? It’s all thanks to the hard work of many people! Next time you see a train or a plane, think about all the people who help make it run safely. ๐โ๏ธโค๏ธ
