There’s some news from China that you might find interesting. A spokesperson from the Chinese military, Wu Qian, has said that even if the United States sends weapons to Taiwan, it won’t change the fact that Taiwan is part of China.
He explained that some people in Taiwan want to make Taiwan independent, but China believes they won’t succeed. The Chinese military, called the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), is working to keep China united and often patrols around the island of Taiwan to show this.
Wu Qian also said that Taiwan is an important part of China, and they don’t want other countries to interfere. He believes that most people support the idea of China and Taiwan being reunited.
Some leaders in Taiwan, from a group called the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), are trying to separate Taiwan from China. They think that the United States can help them, but Wu Qian says this is making people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait upset.
