Meet Gashi Wangmo: Making Elderly Care Better in Sichuan! π
Have you ever thought about who takes care of our grandparents and elderly friends? Let me introduce you to someone special! Her name is Gashi Wangmo, and she’s from the beautiful region of Sichuan in southwest China.
When Gashi was just 18 years old, she started working in elderly care. Now in her 30s, she has spent more than half her life helping older people! Isn’t that amazing?
In 2019, Gashi became the director of an elderly care center in a city called Barkam, in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. She worked hard to train her staff and make sure they give the best care possible.
This year, Gashi is a deputy at China’s National People’s Congress (NPC). That’s a big meeting where important decisions are made for the country! It’s her third year as a deputy.
Gashi has some great ideas to make elderly care even better! She wants to:
- Improve working conditions for young staff π©ββοΈ
- Encourage companies to help out in elderly care π’
- Get more resources to support elderly care centers π°
On Wednesday morning, Gashi and other NPC deputies spoke to the public and answered questions from the media at the Deputies’ Corridor before the big meeting began at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Thanks to people like Gashi, elderly care in Sichuan has improved a lot in recent years. She inspires us to think about how we can help others in our communities! π
