Kurdish-led militia rejects disarmament, calls for integration

Kurdish Fighters Want to Join Syrian Army but Keep Their Weapons

Hey there! 👋 Have you heard about what’s happening in Syria?

There’s a group called the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). They’re mainly Kurdish fighters who control parts of northern and eastern Syria.

The SDF’s top commander, Mazloum Abdi, said that they don’t want to give up their weapons or disband their group. But here’s the interesting part: they are willing to join Syria’s future army! 🪖

He mentioned that they want to be part of a ‘single national army’ and suggested creating a joint committee to discuss this idea.

However, they weren’t invited to recent meetings led by Syria’s current leaders about forming a new defense ministry. They’re hoping to be included in future talks!

There were also rumors that Iran gave the SDF weapons, but Abdi said that’s not true. He said they don’t need weapons from Iran, and that the U.S. forces in Syria are important helpers. 🇺🇸

It’s a complex situation, but it’s all about finding peace and uniting different groups in Syria. Let’s hope they can work things out! ✌️
